Mrs. Atuaia's Class studied the Malaekahana Stream and its connection to the community's flood problem

We learned that what looked like lava rock was really sand that had been packed so hard it was like rough zagged cement. We learned that the packed sand kept the rain water from naturally flowing to the sea. Robert Bourke from Oceanit helped us.

Barnicles covered much of the packed sand and causes environmental damage to the area

The area also contained large quantities of debree.

To get to the stream we had to walk through what we called a jungle

We spent time in our groups developing questions for future study
