Explorer Movies
Assessment

Students will research and study Explorers. Videos will be created to share information to other classmates.

1. An introduction will be given to introduce explorers to be researched, standards to be covered, requirements to complete assignments

2. Pairs of students will be given time to research information and gather pictures and maps about their explorer. Information will be gathered from the internet and from books.

3. Students will fill out a treatment and create a storyboard

4. Students will write up cue cards, collect props and practice speaking parts.

5. Students will tape, edit and copy video.

6. Classmates will view videos

Materials/Equipment Needed:

*Digital Video camera

*Sound equipment

*Lighting equipment

*Computers with Internet Access, word processing and imovie software

*Books on explorers

1. Students will read books and read information gathered from the internet, fill out treatments, story boards ad assignment sheets.

Oral Communication:1. Communicate orally using a various forms, interpersonal groups, and public-for a variety of purposes and situations

*Participate in groups to exchange ideas, explore issues, solve a problem or complete a project.

*Participate in dramatic and interpertive oral activities (e.g. media presentations, oral interpretations, readers theater)

1. Students will work in pairs to complete their oral presentation (imovie). Time will be used wisely to organize a video that is pleasing to peers. Each group will complete an imovie checklist.

4. Students will practice parts and learn to speak loud and clear

5. When video is finished it will be shown to class.

History: 3. Historical inquiry- Students use tools and methods of historians to transform learning from memorizing historical data to "doing history"

3. Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity. Students use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing technology-enhanced models, preparing publications, and producing other creative works

Use technology tools(e.g. multimedia authoring,, presentation, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside ando outside the classroom environments, web tools to support learning and research
